Dedicated Cloud resources that provide maximum control, customization and security.

Private Clouds enable greater security and control for companies who need a more bespoke solution or have strict compliance regulations to meet. Similar in principle to an old-fashioned LAN, a Private Cloud solution provides the flexibility and accessibility of the Cloud with all the reassurance of a dedicated private network.

We help design, implement and manage secure Private Clouds for our customers. Talk to us about how your business can capitalize on Cloud technology securely and safely.

What is a private cloud?

A private cloud is used extensively by a single company that has multiple business units. Those business units use the services being provided by private cloud. Much like multiple companies use services being delivered by a public cloud.

You can choose to own a private cloud or lease one form provider. Even you leased, you use dedicated hardware - you are not sharing it with any other organization. This hardware may be located onsite (e.g., at your company's headquarter) or offsite(e.g., at the provider's facility). The party responsible for managing the private cloud depends on various factors, whether the cloud is leased and where it is located. It could be you, the provider or both you and the provider.

The mail advantage of using a private cloud is tighter security, which is important if you must comply with government regulations. Because you do not share the hardware with other organizations. You do not have to worry about resources being vulnerable if another companies resources become infected with malware or get hacked. In addition, you control internal and external access to your private cloud.

HOW PRIVATE CLOUD BENEFITS YOUR BUSINESS

Choose a private cloud when security, control and performance are your top priority. Private clouds feature 100% dedicated and isolated resources for mission critical business applications.

Your private cloud will only be accessible by your organisation which means that you will be able to configure and manage it according to your company needs. This higher level of control makes it easier to customize your environment and benefit from a truly bespoke cloud solution.

Example:

A Private Cloud powered by Azure technology is configured to fulfill your business’s exact hosting needs. Those needs may include specific storage requirements, specific security design or the implementation of tailored resource management. Because each Azure Private Cloud is designed from the ground up, there is special provision for growth and your business’s changing needs.

Although public clouds offer a certain level of security, your private cloud can be build using a comprehensive set of techniques to ensure that your operations are kept out of reach of potential intruders. These techniques include electronic separation and isolation technologies such as firewalls, VPNs and encryption. The combination of those techniques works towards the ring fencing of your private cloud for increased security and privacy. Because resources are shared, it is difficult to obtain the same level of security in a multi-tenant environment.

Example

Azure Private Clouds guarantee security through Microsoft’s innovative design of the Hyper-V virtualisation engine. Hyper-V provides enhanced network, storage and Active Directory security. Each virtual machine has access to designated drive volumes only. These drive volumes may be optionally secured with full drive encryption provided by Microsoft BitLocker Drive Encryption. The Virtual LAN feature of Hyper-V ensures that network traffic remains securely communicated, without the possibility of interference or intervention.

A private cloud model is not as cost effective as a public cloud model as it offers smaller economies of scale. However, through a private cloud model, an organisation can ensure that resources are directly and flexibly allocated to individual departments or business functions according to their needs. Compared to traditional LANs, computing resources are used in a more efficient manner which minimises investment in unused capacity.

Better use of computer resources helps reduce your organization’s carbon footprint.

In a virtualised environment, the network is more resilient in the event of a physical infrastructure failure since virtual partitions can pull their resource from unaffected servers. Also, for private clouds hosted with third parties, the organisation benefits from the highly secure physical infrastructure of the data centre where the private cloud is physically hosted.

Should your system be affected by sudden spikes in demand, you have the possibility to use cloud bursting. Through this service, you can switch selected non-sensitive functions to a public cloud in order in order to free up space for sensitive functions that need to remain in a private cloud. To go further, your organisation can adopt a Hybrid Cloud strategy where Private Clouds are integrated with Public Clouds. The Hybrid Cloud model allows for maximum efficiency with automated allocation of functions according to their sensitivity.

Where intensive resources are required, dedicated servers can be integrated into the Private Cloud. This is useful in the case where large databases require dedicated hardware to perform optimally.

In trying to define a cloud strategy, many companies struggle with questions around the type of cloud platform to adopt, which applications and data to move (and where), and how all of this will affect the company’s security, functionality, and resources.
Kayimpex will work with your key stakeholders to figure out the best end-to-end cloud solution for your business needs and then help you turn the plan into reality.
